Would ChatGPT recommend you this holiday season?
November and December bring in nearly one in every five dollars of the year's retail sales.* And visits to U.S. retail sites from AI tools like ChatGPT are expected to more than double this holiday season, up 130% from last year.**
Black Friday is November 27. We'll build you five prompts to ask ChatGPT and see whether you make the holiday shopping list.
Holiday shopping is underway. We'll build you five prompts to ask ChatGPT and see whether you make the holiday shopping list.
Build my promptsWe asked ChatGPT a series of holiday shopping questions
Here's what stood out about the brands ChatGPT kept naming.
ChatGPT gave each one a reason that matched the shopper's own words, and it found that reason on a page about the product: the brand's website, a store listing or a review.
ChatGPT recommended K9 Ballistics, described its aluminum frame and heavy-duty ballistic fabric built for dogs that chew, and cited the brand's own website.
ChatGPT described the Breville Bambino Plus's removable water tank and drip tray and its automatic steam wand cleaning, and cited Breville's website.
ChatGPT listed local heating companies that advertise same-day or next-day service, and named their websites as the source.
It isn't always the brand's own site. For a science gift, ChatGPT took Snap Circuits' details ("more than 100 projects, no soldering") from a Walmart listing and toy reviews.
When a customer describes their problem to ChatGPT, can it find your answer, wherever your product or service is described?
