Faux Real

Apparently, we have a meat problem. Our precious, processed real beef burgers are being replaced by plant-based meat alternatives. I went to the grocery store the other day and, without paying attention, grabbed a package of burger only to get home and discover I was bamboozled. In my hand sat a sheep in wolves clothing- plant-based burger. My first instinct was to throw it in the trash (dramatic)- but my growling stomach said no. So, I pushed through my doubts and made a “burger,” and honestly, I wasn’t mad at it. Now to say it tasted like a beef burger is a bit of an exaggeration, there is no replacing the real thing, but its texture and bite were shockingly similar, and it tasted pretty good. In honor of my grocery store mistake and this recent culinary phenomenon, we compare the websites of three of the biggest plant-based burger companies on the market right now Beyond Meat, Impossible Foods, and Lightlife to see who’s grilling up the tastiest website in this week’s round of Website Wars.
